THe thought that antibiotic resistance could be a thing was around 1945 when Alexander Fleming discovered penicillin. Antibiotics could become ineffective in the future, and there is not much we can do about it. Over the past years the use and misuse of antibiotics has increased the number of resistant organisms. That means infectious diseases could become uncontrollable. Inappropriate use of antibiotics worsens the drug resistance, availability to antibiotics also contributes to drug resistance.
